I’ve been framed! Yes, it is time for another Stamptacular Sundays Challenge, and this time our theme is “ANYTHING BUT A CARD.” Honestly, it is a theme that makes me nervous but, once again, it moved me a bit outside my comfort zone and I learned a few things in the process!
For this week’s challenge, you will create anything you want EXCEPT a CARD! Create something FABULOUS and inspire us, but you must include a stamp somewhere on your project!
You will have from now until midnight (EST) September 15th to complete this challenge and post a DIRECT LINK to your submission in our INLINKZ in order to be entered into the drawing for this week’s prize donated by:
For my project, I created a picture frame! I used an unfinished wood frame from Michael’s and embellished it with paint, paper, and tons of bling! Of course, I colored up a stamped image, “Water Lily” from Sugar Nellie stamps, with copics for my focal point! I just love these images, and I do have a special connection to the lotus flower- if you have visited my blog, you will understand!
I began by painting the frame with Tim Holtz Paint Dabbers in Pearl and White. Then I coated the frame with Modge Podge and attached my design paper (from an old kit I had). I sanded off the edges on the outside and inside the frame cutout. See tutorial here. Then I distressed the edges with Distress Ink in Brushed Corduroy and Tea Dye. From there, I fussy cut my image and placed her inside the frame opening. I painted the chipboard frame (from Make it Crafty) with the dabbers and distress ink above and attached to wood frame with Glossy Accents. Throughout the whole process, I added Deco Art Glamour Dust to whatever it would stick to- love that stuff! I added pearl flourishes, flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and my stash, crystals, white netting, gold glitter, beachy buttons and burlap netting to embellish the image. I lightly brushed some Tim Holtz white Crackle Paint in some places and even added a bit of Snow-Tex here and there. Last, I attached my sentiment – a chipboard sentiment from DCWV Far East collection- with pop dots (oldie but goodie). Here is a close up of my image… these little mermaids are so adorable!
Why not hop on over to see what the DESIGN TEAM has created to inspire you? We are looking forward to seeing what you create! Have a great day, and thanks for leaving your kind comments!
