“Hope is the thing with Feathers…” Crafts and Me Inspiration Card

     Happy Thursday… for those of you who want to know where the title of the post comes, it is the first line of Emily Dickinson’s poem which I reprinted below.  In it she tells us that hope is a gift for all of us and that it is something we all can call upon especially in tough moments, but “hope” never asks for anything in return… That, along with the fact that April is “National Poetry Month, is the inspiration for my card today for Crafts and Me.

Hope
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune- without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I’ve heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

     For my card, I used a Crafts and Me image, “Hope” by Sara Burrier.  You can find this image HERE.   Between the balloon that says “hope” and the bird atop her head, it seems as if the artist might have had this poem in mind when creating this image!  “Hope” is colored with a blend of Copic and Touch Twin markers.

     The design paper is from Pion called Fairytale of Spring-Violet. These 6×6 papers (four on one 12×12 sheet) make coordinating papers so easy and I promise everything you create with them will look beautiful.  It is so hard to cut them up!
     The colored cardstock is my latest favorite, “Core’dinations Distress Cardstock” that I purchase in Joanns- every color is a perfect match for every color distress ink… again, very easy to find a perfect match for those Pion papers!   I distressed the edges of all with Brushed Courduroy distress ink and blender tool. The embellies feature shabby crinkled seam binding and lace from Live and Love Crafts, velvet ribbon from The Ribbon Girls and flowers & heart pearls from WOC.
    Her balloon got a dose of Diamond Glaze and her dress, hair and wings were glittered with Deco Art Glamour Dust. That’s it for me today.  Why not hop over to the Crafts and Me challenge where the digi team is hosting a “Buttons and Bow” challenge!  Have a great day, and thank you for your kind comments!  I will be entering this card in the following challenges”
