I made this card for the mother of a dear student of mine who was recently diagnosed with a serious illness. I would like to think that the love and positive energy I felt making this card will find its way into her spirit when I give this to her.
Actually I believe the sentiment is a reminder to all of us not to lose sight of the angels and miracles in our everyday lives. I am sure we have all been touched at one time or another by someone or some event that forever changes how we see our world. I have blogged about my husband’s transplant a few months ago and what a miracle it was to recieve this gift of life…Sometimes, however, we lose sight of the smaller, everyday miracles- the sunrise, our family and friends, just being alive and well.
This digi image is called “Child of Healing” by Sara Burrier, available from Crafts and Me, and I could not think of a more appropriate image. The sentiment is from Just Rite stamps set called, “Hope”. She was colored with copics B52, B0000, BG10 and prismacolor pencil- Jade Green/gamsol. Hair, E49, 47, 35 and YR20. Wings YR24, Y11. Pebbles chalk was used for the clouds and edges of paper were distressed (Zutter distress tool) and Tea Dye ink applied with Inksentials tool.
Other embellishments include Snowtex glitter, swarovksi crystals, lace and Ivory Viva Decor Pearl Pen. Metal corners and flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and Kaisercraft. DP is an oldie but goodie from K & Company called “Bailey” and cardstock is from Bazill and my stash. Parts of the image are glittered with Deco Art Glamour Dust applied with a glue pen. Doily (inside card) from Cheery Lynn Designs. This is my first attempt at “shabby chic” and I was inspired by the beautiful card made by Pat Frank at Card2Cherish.
I made this card to give this Mom a physical reminder to stay strong and positive on this difficult journey, but in doing so, it also became a way to remind all of us that miracles and angels and hopefulness surround us every day if we just open our eyes and let them in.
