Today marks my last challenge with The Outlawz as their Guest Designer for July. It has been such a pleasure to participate in each week’s challenge with so many talented, talented artists! Special thank you to Carla Suto for inviting me to play – thank you!
This week’s Copic/Promarker Challenge at The Outlawz is “Anything Goes”. You will have from now until August 2nd to enter our challenge. Our sponsor for the month of July’s Copic/Promarker Challenge is Dilly Beans. One random winner will select three digis from Dilly Beans online store!
For my entry, I selected another beautiful image by Hannah Lynn called “Moonlit Mermaid.” I actually began this card with the sentiment first… I found this line on Pinterest and upon further search, discovered it comes from a poem whose title is this very line, “I Dream of You in Colors that Don’t Exist” by Kizzy Bloom here. The line sparked my creative mojo and while so many lovely stamps and digi images would have fit the sentiment just as well, it was Hannah’s stamp that I selected. I also knew for some weeks now that I wanted to work with a gold/black color combination and the second source of inspiration came from a new paper pad. Putting all three together has been so much fun, and here she is…
” Moonlit Mermaid” is colored with copics on Copic Xpress cardstock (colors listed below). While I am a huge fan of Cryrogen White, I thought I would experiment with another paper and I was quite happy it. The design paper is gorgeous- my kinda gorgeous, anyway- it is a new 12×12 paper pad by Die Cuts with a View called “Stardust” which just became available this month. Here is one of the few pics I could find that gives you some idea of the paper included in this pad. The colors in the pic are much brighter than the actual paper.
I bought the smaller matstack a week ago at Joanns and when I went back to buy the 12″ pad, it was sold out and sold out everywhere… so I ordered it online (joanns 40% off). It includes celestial and skyline/starry sky paper, some of them are beautifully glittered and foiled. All of the paper on this card comes from that stack, even the black glittery moon, which I cut out with a circle punch. If you really want to see this paper pad up close, here is a link to a youtube video-.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sycf9-wW12c – she shows both the matstack and the larger pad. You can fast forward to where she flips through each page to get a more realistic look at this fabulous paper.
Flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and Pizazz Aplenty. I also embellished the card with a pearl heart button from my stash and a gold cord bow above the sentiment. The sentiment was cut out using a new EK Success Tag punch. I cut both and then just trimmed the gold one so I could mat it against the black one. Last, she is glittered here and there with Deco Art Glamour Dust. Thanks, once again, to every one over at The Outlawz for having me as their guest. Also thank you for your kind comments.
