It’s All About the Fantasy at A Creative Romance

Happy Friday!  I am here to share my design team card for our next challenge at
A Creative Romance.  The theme of this challenge is  FANTASY!!

Well, I promise you I could not go with the first idea that popped into mind, but the next best one was to work with my favorite of all fantasy images, a mermaid. I cannot pass up the chance to color up any mermaid I see!  Before we get to my card, I have to tell you that I purchased a very inexpensive camera the other day as my expensive one broke. I thought this would hold me over until I could fix the other. Well, this little camera (for under $100) has been a blast to work with and it has the coolest features. From choosing to only expose one of four colors (blue in above pic) to the “blur” in the bottom pic, it takes amazing pics and I am having so much fun.  If you want more info on the camera I purchased, just email me!
Now, on to my card. This image is an oldie but goodie. As some of you know, my son moved out to a new apartment and his room became my new craft room. I love it! Well, as I relocated my stamps, I found this mermaid by Stampendous. I never colored her until now. I wish I could give you her name but she does not have one!  It is just “Mermaid”.  You can find her online and in stores. Here is my card in color…

My mermaid is colored with copic markers on Make it Colour cardstock.  I used a combination of some old “By the Sea” dp with a new paper pad, “Seashore” by Prima. I added my favorite “underwater” die cuts, “Decorative Elegance” dies by Marianne Creatables (they are a set).
I distressed the edges of my papers with a distress tool and then inked with Brushed Corduroy and Walnut Stain inks. The two shells on the bottom right are from Prima’s Shabby Chic Treasures.  Last the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, lace from Live and Love Crafts and Pearls from Recollections.  Speaking of pearls, I dropped a blob on white paint pen when making the dots of “pearls” in her hair so I covered the smear with my own flat back pearls and some swarovsi crystals. Here is a close up:

  1. Stunningly gorgeous card hon, sooo glad your mojo is back to create lovelies like this. Love the pearls in her hair and the little hair doodad you made to cover the naughty blob, nobody would ever have known it was to cover an accident. The new camera seems a great find too.
I do have to say though I'm ever so slightly intrigued as to what was your first 'fantasy' idea lol.
Have a great Friday! 🙂 xx
