Good Morning. Just stopping by to share my very, very late design team card for Crafts and Me. The theme for this challenge is “Lovely Lace.” – one of my favorite themes! Can you ever have too much lace?
Sadly, this is going to be my last challenge with Crafts and Me– it has been such a wonderful experience to create alongside such talented designers! Teresa has made some new changes to the store over the summer, so why not have a peek HERE and see what is new! Also, Teresa has changed the Crafts and Me challenges in that they now are monthly, so you have plenty of time to enter your “Lovely Lace” creation!
For my card, I used a Hannah Lynn digi image called “Amanda and Axel”…. What a sexy vampiress…just love her “fangs” and I loved coloring her up for Halloween as my “lady vampire” card! Halloween is not such a big deal in some parts of the world, but in the USA it is celebrated in all its fun and macabre form! I just love all the fun recipes, decorations and the spooky atmosphere surrounding it!
“Amanda and Axel” are colored with copic markers. The design paper is Echo Parks’ “Chillingsworth Manor” and I distressed all the edges with the Zutter distress tool. It is a really fun double sided paper pad to use for Halloween. I added my go-to black netting behind my image and since it is a “lace” challenge, I added black lace beneath the image. Bats were punched with a MS punch and the large bat is a sticker I had. The orange roses are from Wild Orchid Crafts. Now I realized after I glued everything down that my image is lined up exactly with the orange dp… NOT what I had planned! The image should be rotated to the right but I was fussing with the netting and somehow attached the image that way.. I was not chancing taking this apart so wonky it is!
I must say I had a lot of fun with my “picture frame!! It was made with Delight Air Dry Clay. Both the clay and the Ornate Cameo Frame mould are now available at Crafts and Me. The image was computer generated in Word and I changed the font using a font called “Face Your Fears” at DaFont.
To create a shiny looking shabby, “metal” frame, I used Black Soot Distress Ink, Inka Gold Paste by Viva Decor, Dylusions Black Marble spray ink and Glossy Accents. Visit my PINTEREST BOARD HERE on Clay, Resin and Molds for more ideas.
Here is what I did: After the air dry clay is removed from the mould and totally dry, about 24 hours, add some Black Soot distress ink to the blender tool or sponge and lightly color frame, especially the sides. Afterward, lightly dab a tiny amount inka gold paste on the raised areas of the frame with your fingertip. Gently wipe off any excess with a tissue. Next, over your non-stick mat or paper towel, spray two spritzes of Dylusions Black Marble onto your mold. You can turn over mold and dab up excess ink if you missed a spot but, again, be gentle. (Do not soak your clay with too much spray or it might “melt” the frame with too much liquid. This is such a strong color, that two spritzes really does it and that is why I also suggested the distress ink first- it cuts down on the amount of spray you need to use.) Quickly pat excess spray gently with a paper towel. When dry (which is in a few minutes) I added a couple more dabs of gold paste and then covered the frame in Glossy Accents. Let dry and you should have a shiny, creepy and old looking frame. If the inside of your frame is difficult to color, just run a copic or sharpie marker inside to coordinate with the color of your frame! With all the colors of inks and Viva Decor pastes, possibilities are endless. This is similar to the Martha Stewart Air Dry Clay and you can use it in her molds as well.
I added a sentiment and poured some red MS glitter at the bottom of the frame (inside) along with some “blood red” swarovski crystals..Next, I am going to add foil and make a creepy mirror instead of a sentiment!
