Reading Pillows

Reading Pillows

Good Morning…. Wanted to pop on to share my reading pillows! As you may or may not know, I was blessed to learn so much from my mother who crocheted, knit, quilted, sewed and taught me all of those wonderful skills combined with being so fortunate to have such a wonderful quilt shop near my home. A little visit to the shop inspired me to create these reading pillows for a local craft fair. I loved making them so much that I made even more which are now available in my ETSY shop (link on sidebar). That little pocket in front can hold a flashlight, for those nighttime readers, a toy, a favorite book and even a special keepsake. They make great gifts as well.

The 16″x16″ pillows feature a 6×8″ machine embroidered phrase and then are sewn together with beautifully coordinated quilt designer fabric panels. The pocket is lined with matching fabric and the front case features end to end machine quilting designs from Designs by Juju and is also lined with batting and fabric. I used the “hearts and loops” design for the quilt pattern. The back of each pillow is an “envelope” back so that the pillow can be removed and the case washed, dried and ironed. I use high quality zippered pillow inserts which can also be removed and washed.

Each pillow has hand sewn binding that coordinates with the fabric. I actually enjoyed hand sewing. My mother taught me years ago and I thought, “no way” but here I am. It was relaxing and the final result is worth the time!

These pillows are available in my Etsy shop. Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a great day and thank you, as always, for your kind comments!
