Happy Friday! I must say my week off has been just great… got the chance to rest and relax and the weather is just lovely. Despite all the beauty that surrounds us, there is often the news that someone we know is experiencing loss or grief. How do we respond at times like this? Often it is a card or a heartfelt note that expresses our sadness or offers comfort. While it is not the most pleasant of topics, it is a reality and just as often, our words through the cards we make, can help and heal those who most need it.
With this in mind, I created a sympathy card using the Just Inklined image, ” Tulip Jug“. It is quite a versatile stamp, but when I saw it, I thought it would be totally appropriate for any expression of sympathy, encouragement or get well. You just need to change or alter the sentiment.
The digi image is printed on Cryogen white Iridescent paper and colored with copics. I used Suzanne Dean’s technique from her Copic #5 class, “Coloring Copper” to color the jug- E17,15, 11 &02. As per Suzanne, I also coated the jug with Glossy Accents. Tulips R39, 29, 24 &22. Leaves G20, 21, 24 and 84. I also coated parts of the leaves (the lightest part) with Glossy Accents. Pumice Stone Distress Ink was sponged on the edges. DP is 7 Gypsies “Market” – pic does not do it justice…beatiful deep, rich coppers reds, greens, browns- colors that will go great with black or metallics!
Metal corner (square) from Wild Orchid Crafts. I added red swarovski crystals (nothing glitters like they do) to the metal embellishment. Border die from Martha Stewart and sentiment from Just Rite Sympathy sentiments -original collection – don’t know if it is still available. Ribbon (my stash) and a pinch of Glamour Dust on tulips. Again, because of the occasion or sentiment, I felt nothing fancy or blingy was appropriate. Sometimes, I am learning, simplicity is best.
As with most of my cards, this one is available in my Etsy Shop. Thanks for stopping by and for your kind comments! Have a great day.
